Harbour Margins Ltd offers coastal habitat services throughout the Bay of Plenty area, including Tauranga harbour and Maketu estuary. Our services can assist you with retirement of  marginal, low-lying pasture and riparian margins through project planning and management, resource consents, restoration of water levels, planting, fencing, and pest plant & pest animal control.

Large or small scale projects, we can assist you to:

  • Define the goal
  • Develop a detailed plan
  • Seek consents & funding
  • Implement your plan; and
  • Manage threats

A relic of the past, this old fence in a salt-marsh is a reminder of a previous farming regime. Many low-lying pastures sink lower as a result of oxidization and compaction of the peat soils; and will increasingly be affected by salt water intrusion - especially with the impending rise of sea-levels.

Restoring water levels and planting suitable wetland/saltmarsh species provides a buffer between the farm and the harbour; and strips silt and nutrients out of the run-off from the land.
